TechMill Denton
A local tech nonprofit I co-founded — coding bootcamps, hackathons, and tech education for the Denton community.
TechMill Denton is a local tech nonprofit I helped co-found — a volunteer collective built around coding bootcamps, hackathons, and general tech education for the Denton community. I joined the board in 2018 and became President later that year, a role I still hold today.
Most of what TechMill did overlapped with the broader Denton startup scene I was already part of through Startup Weekend and Startup Digest — open-data collaborations, community meetups, and events aimed at making it easier for people to get into tech without a traditional CS background.
TechMill is currently in a holding pattern rather than actively running events — the entity’s still around in case we bring it back.
Running a volunteer org long-term is a different problem than getting it off the ground — and a much harder one.
Keeping the entity alive in a holding pattern beat either forcing events nobody had bandwidth for, or shutting it down entirely.
